Delawyk Chickens

Our chickens always make visitors smile and get a lot of support from the Crescent – from the volunteers who clean them out every day to neighbours who bring kitchen scraps, and children who come to say hello.

If you are a gardener, please help yourself to chicken-poo compost from the black bins inside the fenced area.

Chicken run extension day two

Day two of the chicken run extension and chicken wire is going on, as you might expect. There is still more hammering to be done as we need to be sure foxes can't get in.

If you have any paving slabs you don't need please get in touch.

Chicken run extension

11:00 am
The Delachick corner of the estate was buzzing today with the sound of drills, saws and problem-solving discussions as residents gathered to build a 6 metre extension to the chicken run.
5:30 pm
Our six hens had the day of their lives as they were allowed to roam around the building site and scratch at the newly turned earth that was to become their new run. It will be a couple of weeks before it will all be finished but you can see the huge progress made in one day.

Thanks to Helen for arranging it all and thanks to all who helped with construction, childcare, cups of tea and those who just stopped to say hello.
